YEs thats true....but the dog did not fall and neither does he look stressed...see he keeps wagging his tail...do we viewers sometimes get more worried than the dogs? And I am still curious why some...i would say very few train this way?
I would say those dogs have nerves of steel. They seemed to enjoy it, and did it on their own. Trying to figure out what application that type of training would be used for is difficult. I'm sure the trainer has his reasons.
Al I think they replied with the above video clip...LOL...
They... looks like start as pups and move on till they achieve what the first video shows....maybe they never have accidents...since I see they start pups from a very low height....
Wow! The dogs look catlike when they are moving through the course. I don't know what the purpose of the training is but I'm sure it does wonders for their coordination not to mention helping with depth perception.
Man, it's like an advanced version of the "floor is lava" game I play with my boy....I didn't know people actually trained for that! Totally awesome (not really sure what the point is though?)
can u further elaborate what u mean by..."helping with depth perception"
I will elaborate but please take this as the conjecture it is and not any sort of proven or scientific thought process
A dog's ability to judge distances (depth perception) is not as acute as a humans. In the clip the terrain is hilly and if the dogs were to be used for herding; I feel having the experience of manuevering edges and sudden drop offs would be highly beneficial in working the rugged terrain. The ability to combine visual judgement with past physical experience of the falling and recovery sensation IMO makes for a much safer and more effective worker.
