Has anyone heard of this in the German bred lines in puppies? I have been talking to a friend that shows the American lines and it is inhereted and happens alot. The end result is putting the puppy to sleep. How sad, but I personaly have not heard of it before. I would love some input on this subject. Thank you.

Oh, I see .... I don't know. I've read that it's most prevalent in Irish Setters, GSDs, and Great Danes, but I don't know anything about lines. Sorry.
Based on anecdotally gathered information (the only dogs I have ever known w/Mega E were Am. bred or BYB), I would hazard a guess that the reason we hear more about in American lines is because typically, Am. lines are bred for show or for pets, NOT working ability. Most working line breeders tend to breed more for health and working ability, whereas show/pet breeders are often breeding for a certain LOOK, whether or not that LOOK is healthy. Just look at their rear end structure if you want to see what I mean....
Anywho, I think you find more health problems like Mega E in these types of lines because the emphasis on health of breeding animals is not there to the degree that it is in working line breeding programs (hopefully!).
IF what I said is even true, LOL, then I think this is probably why.
