I just wanted everyone to know how amazing switching Dolly, my 15 year old Cocker Spaniel, to raw feeding has been.
It's been three weeks today, two weeks that she's been on raw only. She looks amazing, and she feels amazing. Her bumps are going away, she's not itchy anymore, she loves her food, her coat feels like fleece and it shines like a L'Oreal hair commercial. And everyone has noticed. No one can believe how amazing she looks. And she gets better every day.
I just wanted everyone to know, especially people considering switching, that it's never too late. And it's so, sooo worth it. The first week and a half it didn't seem like anything was changing. Then it seemed like one night I went to bed discouraged, and the next morning I woke up to a wide eyed, energetic senior who looked like she'd gotten a make-over.
I still haven't added chicken backs because my family "forgot" to keep it when they cooked the whole chicken I bought. But I'm going to the market tomorrow to get some. I think they're just weirded out by it. Either way, the THK (with the salmon oil and vit e) is working miracles.
It's been such an incredible experience. Thank you to everyone, I couldn't have done it without you.

I actually don't have any good before pictures of her body and bumps, just of her face. But I can still post the after ones! The real difference right now is in her longer Cocker coat (though we keep a puppy cut, we feel it's easier for her and us to manage). The hair on her back is still pretty dull, but it's not nearly as course as it was. It's very soft now. Her head, ears, belly and legs look outstanding, I think. Maybe not to you guys, but remember her fur was much worse. And ignore the awful red eye. I'm terrible at Photoshop and it's hard to take pictures of her with the kitchen lighting Oh, ignore the collar too. It was not my doing.
In the first one, you'll probably notice that her eye looks pretty droopy. It's a little bit better than normal but it's been that way for some time now. There was a big bump on her right ear (left in the picture) but you can't see it and it's so much smaller now. It's crazy.
In the second picture, you can see on of her bumps on the top of her shoulder, it's the black mark (that's not a sebaceous cyst, I'm actually not sure what it is, but she's seen the vet for them and that's why she's on Pred) and it's MUCH smaller. There was another one just behind her shoulder and you can kinda see where the fur is a little scruffed, but that one's almost completely gone.
So she doesn't look incredible to your standards probably, but she looks great to us. The improvement has been unbelievable and I know it's only going to get better. Thanks so much everyone!
