I have a cane corso and the people i got her from don't have the paperwork on the sir and dam because they got both dogs from someone else.
With that being said my pup has a great temperment minus her fear of large trucks and traffic and is showing signs that she wants to work.
so my question is 2 part.
1. Is it possible to get papers on a dog who's parents don't have any?
2. Is it possible to compete a dog that is not considered "pure breed"
You can show in a number of different sports and the dog will be registered (in the trial entry) as a mix.
No AKC, although I think they are discussing allowing mix breeds in their ob.
Schutzhund DVG allows mixed breeds.
There are mix breed ob clubs all through the USA.
I don't think the AKC recognizes the Cane Corso. If they do you can get an ILP registration in order to compete in ob. You need to spay/neuter the dog as part of the ILP registration.
Not sure if UKC has a similar registration but I would suspect so.
David,
You're stuck for the papers, I'm sorry to say.
There are a lot of fly-by-night "alternative" kennel clubs that offer registrations for un-papered dogs, but they're *bogus* and the papers aren't worth squat and would not be accepted by anyone other than a complete novice in the dog world, so don't waste your money on those scam artists.
Examples of the fraudulent kennel registries would be the CKC ( the Continental Kennel Club, which exists only to paper pet store mixed breeds to facilitate a long term scam ) and of course Kwame Winston's infamous OREBA registry....*snicker*.
