thanks, Theres alot of stuff going on in this forum, it can be alittle over whelming if your new to it. Heres a sample menue for a week for my male who is about 90lbs. Monday 1lb of chicken, turkey,or duck necks.1lb of ground beef, 2 lg carrots put ina blender with 1 egg and shell blended to a mush. 5oomg vit-c tablets grinded to a powder,i give him 1 tsp. 1200mgs of fish oil, 400 units vit-E softgel in a piece of hot dog. Tuesday: I'll cut back on the necks by about 4-6 ozs and give him pork,or beef liver. a sweetpotato instead of carrots and then the vit-c, vit-e, and fishoil same amounts as monday on them. Wed: 1lb necks 1lb ground meat and same amount ofvit-c,E andfish oil, Thursday: 1lb ground beef, 10ozs of necks and ill add 6 ozs of chicken gzzardsand hearts or 6 ozs of beef heart. vit-c E and fish oil same amounts. Friday is sea food day he gets 2 cans of Salmon, 1 can of Mackeral, 4ozs of sardines, eggw/shell,potato or the carrots and the vit-c,E, and fish oil, the tsp of alpalfa/kelp. Saturday: 12 ozs necks, 1lb ground beef pork or beef liver and the vitamins and fish oil. Sunday:is like a Thursday meal. The only thing I think I forgot is everyday the male only gets 2-3tsp of enzymes cause I think he has a enzyme problem. I do still measure out their meals. I think thats the whole weekly menu, Any suggestions, Sorry about the boo-boos in the typing.

Poops look good? Firm, but not crumbly to the point that they turn to powder if you smoosh them fresh out of the dog. I know......gross.
The only thing I see is that they can have more fish oil. 1000 mg for every ten lbs. of body weight.
You could also stand for a little bit more RMB variety. Even if it is just buying a whole chicken once a week or two and cutting it up into meal size portions.
There is absolutely nothing in that diet that you listed that contributed to the problems with your dog. Nothing at all.

How much liver or other organ meat do you feed a week? Or day? Whichever you want to go by.
Regardless, my above opinion still stands.
Just want to make sure they are getting roughly enough.

I give them pork or beef liver 6oz at least twice a week and beef heart at least once aweek 6ozs. I aso give then raw femur bones as a rec bone cut into about 6inch lengths. I know the vet was against raw feeding though he never gave any back up to his opinion. I dont ususlly go to him but didnt have much choice since it was holiday weekend. Should I have a blood test done to see if he's lacking. I'll do anything to keep them on this diet. Their hair is soft, there crazy with energy. And I use to have a hard time getting this male to eat and he had awful food allergys he would scratch himself raw. Now he whines when he know I'm making his food. Eats everybit and wants more. I'll admit though I'm still alittle scared about the bones.

Could you get any kidney?
If you can't it isn't a big deal. Just another organ to feed when you can.
Otherwise, organ looks pretty good. The math says it could be a little higher, but I don't like to feed the ENTIRE organ ration as liver, either. Your menu is close enough.
You can do bloodwork if you want, but I don't see anything you posted that necessitates it. Still a good idea to check once a year regardless of diet.
What about bones worries you? Maybe we could ease your mind on the specific worry.

I'm ninety nine percent sure that Quanta's diet was ok, that it was her other issues that caused that blockage, I think it was just the vet trying to scare me into kibble food. I have these other 2 gsds and it would kill me if I did something to hurt them. I live alone and their really my only companions, and i have got alot of money into them too. Dont take that the wrong way cause i know you all love your dogs too, and probably have way more money into them then I do, I do know one thing I'm so against these dog foods they have on the market. I have lost so many gsds do to cancer and tumors etc. People out for the almighty dollor. Sorry I'm getting alittle worked up here. Thanks mike for you input I am going to substitute maybe 1 or two days of necks with leg quarters and add some kidneys, also I'll up the fish oil.

Its hard to see them lately because we have so much snow,There have been blizzard like conditions for about a week now. They were alittle soft last time I checked. I have to watch the male because he still eats his stool alot of times.I'm going to confine him to the garage today and see if I can check out one of his poos lol, ( In fact both of them) I did locate kidneys, pork and beef. I'm gonna go ahead and change the diet abit.

And it doesn't have to be much kidney, either. Probably about 6 oz. a week on top of your other organ rations that you already mentioned giving.
Always start with a very small amount of the new organ and gradually work up to the full desired amount.
Providing a variety of meats(which you are doing great, BTW), a variety of organs, a variety of RMB's, and topping it off with a small amount of produce for good measure will ensure that you are covering all the dog's nutritional bases.
