I'm not sure if I should be worried yet.
But I have a 8 month, almost 9 month female GSD.
She's the kinda dog that will eat her bowl and ask for seconds, thirds, or the whole bag.
But the past three days or so, she's either not finishing her food, or she doesn't even bother eating it.
I looked at her teeth, they look fine.
I'm not sure whats wrong with my Jynx.
Maybe she has a new years resolution to lose weight? kidding.

What about her poop? Does it look normal?
Does she have any energy? Playing?
Changes in routine or anything like that?

Her poop looks fine, everything seems normal, she's just not eating or getting excited to eat like she used too.
She's been playing more actually, since we have more snow, she loves it.

I'm not sure if I should be worried yet. You know if you are worried or not.
If the answer is yes, stop by a vet for some peace of mind.

Michael is right. A check-up never hurt anything! And even if it turns out to be nothing, it'll be good vet training!

Carley, what are you currently feeding Jynx?
Some dogs can get bored with their food and become disinterested in eating because of it... I don't know what the protocol is for that - I have a dog that will eat pretty much anything, anytime, anywhere, with gusto - but I'm sure others here have dealt with fickle eaters.
How is Jynx with with treats? Have you tested her interest with other foods besides what she normally eats?
All that aside, I agree with Michael - a check up at the vet can't hurt.

Just curious...has this behavior started after opening a new bag of food or the bottom of one? If so, it may be possible that the food has spoiled. Just a thought.
Had a cat once that would barely eat more then a couple of bites of food for almost 2 weeks after opening a new bag of food. Vet found nothing wrong. This cat was a big cat & a big eater. We bought a new bag, same food, & he ate like a pig. There aparently was something wrong or bad with the food. When we contacted the food company & told them we suspected something was wrong with the food, they later contacted us & said that the food had been recalled. This cat was one smart kitty & was eating just barely enough to stay alive & yet not get too sick.

Any chance she's going into heat? You'd be amazed how weird and random they can act for that.

I also noticed that around this age my Leonberger became a little less interested in her food, so I switched thinking that was the problem.
So after the food switch and an all clear from the vet, I just re-adjusted her food to a smaller quantity that she was telling me to feed her. Just after she turned 1 her appetite came back with a vengence and she went through a growth spurt.
Since then she has done this once more at about 18 months and then reclaimed her appetite at 2. I think its kind of like with kids, when they grow and expend more energy they eat more, then slow down, then pick up again. Over the last 2 1/2 years she has gone from eating 3 cups to as much as 6 cups a day and has now settled at about 4 cups in the winter and 6 cups in the summer, because we are more active in the summer.
Has her exercise changed at all?
Is she maybe just expending less calories than she usually does?
