just wondered how many times some of your dogs poop a day, and how much. I think my dogs stools are pretty good texture wise. But they dont seem to be much in amount wise. I know they have 1 bowel movement a day for sure, should they have more than that? And it may only be 1 terd inch long and wide. Doesn't seem like thats enough.
I definitely noticed WAY smaller stools when my dogs switched to raw!
How old are the dogs?
Breeds?
How long on raw?
If activity is normal, eating drinking and behavior normal, I wouldn't be too worried. There is more digested when you feed raw therefor less waste to come out!
I have 1 male 2yr, 1 female somewhere close to 1yr. There both czech shephards, I've been feeding raw for about 4 months, Ive been kinda adjusting some of there foods. Seems like whem I first started feedings their stools were like powder. Then alittle loose now seems about right in texture, maybe alittle hard but its laying in the snow too, if it was 70 outside it would be smushable, without being powdery. Well for the female it hasnt been 4 months cause I havent had her that long. I guess with feeding the kibble ya get use to big piles couple times a day.
You can definitely expect a dramatic difference in stool volume if you are used to seeing stool from kibble - especially a poor quality kibble. One of the great things about raw!
Also, sometimes it seems like they drink almost no water since they get so much moisture from the food.
I just got a male that is on dog food and man, his poops are huge and more than once a day as opposed to my female that has been on raw for more than a year now. He does drink more water as well, he will be making the switch next week.
