I have an ACD mix pup who was supposed to be a "miniature heeler".
At 16 weeks he is 14" and 14 lbs, solid muscle.
Seems like he's going to get pretty big to me.
Interested in the sizes of other breeds that might be a similar age.
How big are your puppies at this age?
My Rudy is a kleinpudel (small standard poodle). At 14 months he is 23-25 lbs. and 18.5 inches. He has been like that for at least 3-4 months so I'm sure he's done growing. He is still intact and might put on a pound or two of muscle (which he already has enough of!)
At 11.5 weeks when I got him he was just shy of 9 lbs. and maybe he was 10 inches? I am thinking your dog is going to be heavier than Rudy for sure, but maybe not that much taller? Just look at how a cattle dog is built.
At 16 weeks, my Aussie was 16 lbs. Now, at 11 months old she is 27 lbs and she is lean and muscular. Last time I measured her height she was 18 inches tall but I may have done that incorrectly, resulting in slightly too tall a measurement (maybe off by an inch or so). She is on the small end of the breed and I don't forsee her getting much bigger.
Your mix is not going to be anything close to a "miniature". Based on my experience with my ACDs, he will probably be on the shorter side at 17-18 inches but my money is that he will be over 30 pounds. My bitch is 17 inches and 32 pounds and was smaller than your mix at that age.
begin rant....
People that breed these designer mutts are idiots and irresponsible. It absolutely kills me that people are bastardizing a breed that I love. Supposedly breeding a Chihuahua with an ACD is just atrocious. If I recall you got this pup from a breeder - if you got it from a shelter, ignore this rant ;-) My issue is with people who go out and support these atrocious breeders.

I understand your frustration Ingrid as my breed of choice has also been bastardized into "toy" and "mini" variations(neither of which are recognized by the national breed club). I cringe every time I hear this sort of thing happening to various breeds...
After 5 mos of taking care of my 86 yr old father who has cancer, I wanted a puppy, and one that wouldn't get too big. The vet in the town from where the pup was bought said the outfit was a nice group, with healthy clean dogs and had a dog from that kennel herself.
I was told that the people did a good job. No cages, all females in the house. I was told that there were no seizures, PRA,cataracts, hip dysplasia in the dogs that were used for breeding, that the people did not inbreed, and had their dogs examined regularily. The conditions I mentioned are ones I have seen in ACDs in my 30 years of veterinary practice.
Your dogs are beautiful. Thank you for responding to my question regarding size.
