Last week, I received my first order from a wholesale dealer and boy am I excited!
He was selling beef brisket bones for .25cents per pound so I bought 20 lbs to give them a try.
My question is, I am still not sure if these are considered a recreational bone or considered ones that could be RMB's.
The slabs are big and have some good meat, but I have to trim some of the fat off as it is really excessive.
On my first slab, there seemed to be a lot of white, cartilage like bone, that seems like it would be good for RMB's.
However this second slab that I cut up seems more hard like a pork neck bone, although these are thinner.
I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me if these are RMB's or rec bones.
Thanks!

In my experience, the difference between RMBs and rec bones depends on the dog--and mostly has to do with the dog's size. If the bone in question can be consumed entirely within a few minutes, it's an RMB. If not, it's recreational.

i agree, definitely depends on the dog. I give beef ribs (which i consider RMB) to my dogs and one leaves the bone on the floor and the other one gets through it but it takes a while. For the same reason i dont feed it as often...it make scary noises when he cracks it.
I know what you mean, I feel that way with some pork neck bones.
I have a one and two year old GSD and I just want to make sure their teeth don't break!
So far, I don't really feed the rec bones as often for this reason either.
Plus, I want to make sure they get their hunger up for their next meal. I tried to give them one to chew on in the afternoon, but neither one was interested.
I will just save them in the freezer and try again some other time.
