No distractions at all. One dog at a time, the other 2 crated during all learning sessions. He was sitting at my feet under the desk looking very bored.
I don't have Dogtra, so I can't tell much by 18 or 40 for the levels, but if he doesnt feel it I don't think going up slowly until he does is that bad unless you don't have good contact. I would try tightening the collar more and working in the contacts like you were then start back at the beginning so that if you do go higher then 40 you can be sure its not poor contact.
I could see the skin on his neck twitching when I moved the receiver to the side of his neck but still no reaction from him. He is a pretty tough guy compared to the other 2. Is it possible when I slowly increase the level it will suddenly get through and would be too high?

i have heard with some long hair dogs you may need to have a bit of fur cut back where you plan to place the electrodes... if it's a lack of contact with skin than the longer contact points would help. I have the 280NCP and it's a great collar. The highest i have ever had to correct was 50/127 under major distractions... on walk i usually have to use 20-30 and in the house normally 17-20.
do you use leash corrections with him? if so how sensitive is he to those?
I just got a Dogtra platinum and my dog reacts at about 40 give or take depending on distractions. I had to shave a tiny spot under his chin because I wasn't getting good contact. Also noticed that if either piece is low on battery, it doesn't stim as well.
It's a brand new collar with full battery charge. Just tried it again. At 55 out of 127 his whole chest twitches so there is a contact but he still does not blink. I make him watch me and he just keeps staring at me while his neck is twitching.
I haven't given him many corrections but it took a pretty strong pop on the prong collar to make him pay attention even a little bit.
