When I picked up this pup & took him to vet, had to give him a name for rescue records. "Harvey" came out of my mouth. Well.... he does sorta look and act like a Harvey, or Harlon, or just Goofball. Picture chocolate lab with face more like a APBT mix, beautiful piercing green eyes. Can stare you down with that completely rigid stance with stiff tail.... "Harvey" just doesn't command the respect he deserves.
Have fun with this, who knows where it'll lead :-)

I love naming pups. This is a great thread and congrats on your new one!!!
Lab/APBT reminds me of visible muscles, much like a body builder. In the spirit of the Olympics going on in our province, there is lots of steroid talk going on.
Stay with me…. Apparently the most commonly used and safest steroid, to get these wonderful muscles (in humans of course) is called Deca-Durabolin.
What about a spin on that…. Dekka.
I think most people would just think it’s an unusual name and those in the know may think it’s got the “rough and tumble” association you’re looking for.

I always liked Jake for a tough dog name. my boy (dobe) was going to be jake but it just didn't suit him... he was too much of a cry baby. As I type this he's whining away.
I love the name Iorek,(yor-ek) for a big strong dog after the polar bear king in the Golden Compass trilogy. He is lovely character that is both a massive seasoned warrior and a loyal gentle companion.
I will have to do some thinking..I love naming animals!

No way!!! This is my absolute favorite name! Iorek and Uriel (I'd probably call him Uri or Yuri, since I actually have trouble pronouncing yoo-ree-yll quickly, lol). After reading the book and then seeing the movie it just doubled my love for the name Iorek.
I'm also a fan of Ezra and Jakob. Besides Iorek I'm a sucker for a good Hebrew name.
