I am the wife of one wonderful man, mother of four great children, ages 10, 8, 6 & 5. We live on a 600 acre farm, but we do not have any cattle at this time. Row crops, lease for hunting & ATV riding, husband runs dozer in spare time for fun. He runs a lawn & garden equipment bz. I'm a SAHM but work a few hours at a local assisted living facility. Love horses and dogs. Went to veterinary college at UT but am not a veterinarian... life interrupted.
I've done obedience training for many local dogs, ones that seem to have problems or issues, and I work with dog and owner to correct their problems - mostly things like barking, nipping, jumping, no recall, etc. Easy stuff imo. We've always had large outside dogs and our house dogs were tiny. I prefer "muscle dogs," something with presence.
I also do some rescue work. Saw LJ in the middle of the highway one day, couldn't have been more than 4-5 wks old. I passed first, refusing to stop -- just too much going on in my life! -- couldn't do it, went back, picked up. Had no idea of breed until we got a good look at him in action, and it's pretty obvious mostly lab with some pit bull/terrier type mix. I was hoping for a strong willed, ominous looking dog to work with for PPD, but seems we're getting the lazy, goofy, but very fun part of the mix. Kids wanted him for their new inside dog, but I've claimed this one as MINE. He does have strong prey drive at times, so we'll see. He's still very young.
I'm long-winded, obviously, this bad in person too! Open to all ideas and suggestions and do not mind being told I'm wrong or have something confused. Want to learn!
Thanks all for the welcome. Yes, Willie, I'm about as far from Knoxville as I can get and still be in TN. Shoulda clarified, I'm from WEST Tenn. Big difference, lol. I went to school in K-town and lived with a family there during those years, and it's beautiful, a great town.
And Steve, I'm sure your wife will back you up on that, right?
