just wondering if a puppy should have a bowl of water available to him all day long. If so how do you go about house breaking him. It seems like he is drinking then peeing like 3or4 times, then going back and drinking then peeing again 2or3 times, its like this all day long. Could there be something medically wrong that he is drinking water this much? Or is this normal for a puppy.

He is 7 weeks, He is my daughters puppy, and I am puppy sitting have had him I guess about 10 days now, I am crate training him. Soon as I let him out of the crate, he runs to the water bowl and drinks quite a bit of water, I pick him up and go outside to pee and he does pee like twice. I take him back in and he pees again 2or 3 times in about 15 minutes or so then plays alittle bit and goes back to the water bowl. It seems to be never ending with the drinking and peeing.
my daughter got him at 6 weeks old. I been watching him til she gets moved into her new house. So I guess he might be 7 weeks and 5days old. He has teeth as sharpe as needles. I pretty sure his mother wouldnt want them on her. Thanks for the advice randall you were a big help as always.
The pup I found was peeing very, very often, but tiny amounts at one time. Vet confirmed, UTI. Antibiotics for a few days fixed that. Drinking lots of water.... how much is a lot? When you take him outside after being crated, how long do you give him to finish? My young pup still has to pee several times before coming back in. His first trip out in the morning lasts about ten minutes, and he may stop four or five times. We stay outside until that last attempt to pee doesn't have any results.
Read, read, read, and watch the free downloadable videos. Try tethering. And definitely keep working with crate training.
I am by no means a puppy expert, but I can't remember any dog I've ever had (as a pup) running out of his crate to go get water. Peeing a few times while outside, yes, but not then coming back in and continuing to pee. I'd get a vet check if he were mine.
