Hello, I have enjoyed the posts on this discussion forum, I am not much of a computer person, nor do I ever watch TV, so all of you must be doing a good job keeping me focused…The Anatolian post was my first soap opera experience!
I have been reading Ed’s articles and some older threads regarding Rank Dogs, and I was wondering if someone could clue me in on what these dogs are like as puppies…Rank Dogs genetically hardwired?

Thanks Willie! I have a close friend that was born and raised with LSGD’s and they
live with her flock 24/7. Your posts were very well informed, even my friend would agree…I should send them to her for entertainment!

In my experience yes Tammy.
I like the harder more driven dogs myself, but they ain't for everyone. They are 24/7 pita's from day one.

Thanks Randy for your reply.. I feel I have a very smart pup, confident, hard nerves, eager to learn, high prey drive, very high food drive, very focused on me! He will soon be 5 months old, there has not been one incident with house training, crate training, he has never growled and actually has not yet barked, only a few ghostly howls when I first got him. Zero on toy/food/ other dog aggressiveness, no humping me or other dogs,. I am with this pup 24/7, He exudes confidence when he walks, with unfamiliar noises, places, he makes himself look much bigger, head held high, puffs his chest out like my parrot, ears erect {actually haven’t seen this pup with his ears flat yet} He doesn’t seem to have any fear, he had a mouthing issue and VERY strong bite since the day I got him, corrections would cause him to bite harder. “I” believe this biting was prey related not dominance. A few people think that he will be/is dominant, so I keep waiting for the spawn of Satin to emerge! What would your take be on this pup? I appreciate your feedback!

Dogs live in the moment, so take him as he is in the moment.
Don't anticipate anything that's not there yet.
Sounds like a really nice pup!
If problems develop, then deal with them.
If you have concerns, then get some of Ed's videos and work off them for peace of mind. That way you can be sure you are on track.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Your pup sounds EXACTLY like mine, although mine is a female.. The pups sure can be a handful especially the ones with extreme prey drive but the way you are bringing your pup up means that all this hard work is gonna pay of in the end, big time.

Yea,
It sounds like you have a nice pup Tammy.
I don't know why everyone gets caught up in the whole, my dog is/is my dog dominate thing though.
While rank drive is a part of the dominate dog, it certainly is not all of what it takes.
Anyone who has actually owned a dominate dog will tell you (I'm sure) the same thing, as much as I love em, they are a true pain in the ass. Both to raise and to maintain. For years and years.....and years.
It sounds like you have a nice pup, enjoy him.
See how he turns out.
