Hello, my name is Laurel and I am a college student. I am really from Tennessee, but I go to college here in Mississippi. I've been lurking here for awhile and posted a few times so far but I really thought I should introduce myself.
I've always wanted a German Shepherd, but my parents chose a hyperhyperHYPER Boston Terrier. That crazy dog is how I got introduced to dog training and found Leerburg Kennels and Video.
Currently, I am really quite interested in learning a whole lot more about training (French Ring, Agility, Problem Behaviors). I recently fostered a German Shepherd mix and went through all the groundwork with her and she responded fantastically. The moment I realized that she saw me as pack leader and I could communicate to her in a way that she would understand was amazing and now I'm hooked (for better or worse).
Here's Kyra, the foster dog. (btw, shelter's vet said she was a Belgian Malinois...lol)
Thanks everybody! Kyra actually got adopted just about 2 weeks ago to a retired gentleman who could spend all day with her on 40+ acres! I miss her so much but I'm happy she found a great home. Now I have to work on my family's Boston Terrier. Boston Terrier - Lucy
I'm a junior, I graduate next May if everything goes according to plan. Yeah, I'd love to foster more dogs and am dying to have one of my own but my roommate will only tolerate Chihuahuas..... or other similarly tiny and yappy dogs. So I guess I'll just wait. Kyra was great though, once the pack structure got settled she was a soft, submissive, happy dog. She was sooo receptive to house rules.
