I received this comment from a woman the other day and thought it was so bizarre it was worth sharing.
To set the scene I was walking along with my female mastiff who is 7 months old and we stopped while a woman went past with her kid on skiis. The woman paused, smiled at me and said:
"You have the same face!"
I said "As who?"
"Your dog!" she replied.
I got the impression she thought this was a great compliment. My dog does have a lovely face but she is after all still a dog
Anyone else received silly, funny, bizarre comments when out with your dog?

People often ask if Maya is much younger than her actual 2 years. She has a slight frame and is 63 pounds, so I guess people are just used to seeing really large GSDs. I feel a little strange when people tell me how pretty she is. They often remark on her coloring, and I'll say thanks, but I had nothing to do with it!
The other day when we were hiking, two dogs began to approach off leash. Maya started barking, and I was clearly working hard to calm her down. The owner coming behind her dogs asked if I wanted to let her off leash to greet her dogs. I guess I thought that was bizarre. I wouldn't want a barking dog to run off leash to greet my dog.

"Does it bite?"
"Yes."
"Can I pet it?"
(my dog is not actually a biter, I just don't want everyone touching her)
Another favorite from when she was a little puppy:
"That dog looks just like a MINIATURE German Shepherd!"

I like when they ask "Do they bite" while reaching for their face!
"Is that a police dog?"
"No."
"Oh....what is it?"
The best ever for me was the time I was walking my GSD, a lady sitting on a bench with her GSD proceeds to study my dog...she asks "Now...what is your dog?" I couldn't believe she was asking this, and paused to see if she would add something a bit more intelligent, when she didn't, I said "a Black and Tan Coonhound!"
She said she adopted her dog and "wasn't sure what it was."

Another good one was one time when I was walking up the steps at the Hemmy (a small park with basketball courts and a baseball field), there were a bunch of little gangsta wannabes hanging out smoking a blunt.
"Yo! Is that a K9?"
"She's a drug dog!"
"Really?"
"Nah, its a six month old puppy"
One of the little hoodlums backs up behind his friends. He's a particularly tough looking one.
"Are you really AFRAID of the puppy?"
"OHHHH, SNAP!!!"

I had a little boy (maybe around 7-9yrs old) ask me if my GSD was a wolf at a local park.
At the same park, I came across a ocuple of ladies walking an older dog (I think it was an Aussie) with out a leash on it, as they came closer to me, they put the leash on the dog and then asked me if my dog bites. Mmmm, ok.
I had a couple of girls standing behind me in Petsmart, I had my GSD with me, she was sitting and being good. I heard the girls talking behind me saying how pretty a dog she was, then as I'm turning around to see if maybe they want to pet her, I see one girl already petting her. I was a bit agitated by this. Not like I wasn't ok with someone petting my dog, it was the fact that they didn't ask, and that they were adults and didn't ask. I, too, don't want everyone I meet petting my dog. I want my dog to be socialized, but not pet without my permission. <--I know it's not a stupid comment, but it was still stupid! lol
I like this one! Made me lol. How could she not know what her rescue is? Don't shelters/rescues guess at what a dog is anymore, lol.

I'm been asked if Ryuk was a coyote, a wolf, a fox, or part cat (yes...seriously)
I've been asked if my frisbee is an alien UFO (this was a serious question too) if Ryuk was a police dog (and when I say no ..."oh, is he undercover?") I've been accused of killing my dog because he was wearing a prong collar, abusing him because he was pulling a scooter. I had a guy ask to borrow him to catch his chickens who got out, a guy who asked to buy him cause he needed a good "gaurd dog" (this was because Ryuk gave him a "badass" look when he came near)
Also, apparently I paint Ryuk to get him the color he is....

Take a look at Cali's picture below. Then imagine how hard it was not to laugh when someone said they thought she might be "part Basset Hound."

You're right. She is obviously 100% Basset Hound.
