since animals are always a huge part of my life I am always curious and happy to learn about what other pets folks keep. Having worked in "the pet trade" all my life...either as a breeder or retailer or now, boarding and grooming. I have a long list of kept and keeping. Fresh and marine fish, birds, reptiles, exotics (ferrets, sugar gliders at present had hedgehogs and others I am sure I am not thinking of), farm animals... So what else folks have at home?

This will be an interesting thread.
We're boring. Ripley has 2 cats. I say they're his, as they ignore me completely and turn to Ripley to fulfill their needs. I feed eveyone at the same time, and I swear they think he's the food guy in our house.

So far, only dogs and dust mites. But I'm getting 9 baby chicks in May!

Well I started 3 years ago with 2 male chinchillas (at least that was what the pet store said they were), 1 year ago SURPRISE they had 2 babies!!! So now I have 4 chinchillas (anybody looking for a chin let me know-LOL) I also have 2 small parrots - an indian ringneck and a quaker - top it off with my 3 German Shepherds and my family thinks I've lost my mind I sometimes wonder that myself......

Tropical fish, Bearded Dragon, California King Snake (in a tank in the bedroom; my snake phobic husband, amazingly, regularly collects critters and feeds him), various transient snakes (this week it's a big native king snake), painted water turtle, horses, ponies, Dexter cattle, a Llama, goats, and a deer who thinks he's a goat (He goes where he wants, when he wants. They can jump, you know).
We used to have "pet pigs" when my husband kept hogs with not-very-good-fences. When they got out and wandered around the yard they were the "pet pigs". Now the hogs/pigs only arrive for a very short visit.

I've got three marine tanks- we're in the clownfish breeding and coral propagation/fragging business. Saltwater fish are my #2 passion (after dogs of course!)
We also have two 8-footer boa constrictors, 3 cats, and 4 chickens.

Until recently I had several dogs (fluid number due to fosters, puppies, etc) and horses. I 'got out of' horses a couple of years ago because I had had them most of my life and wanted to have the time to do more writing and traveling. I have only one dog now, we have no litters planned and I'm not currently taking fosters. The last of my original personal 'pack' died just before I decided to give up the horses. I can't remember ever having just one animal!
When I was younger we had several cats (in addition to dogs and horses), white mice, lizards, a parakeet, turtles, lots of tropical fish and goldfish. I went through a 'snake' phase for awhile too; I had a salmon boa and a small ball python.
