I've just become aware of Ottosson interactive dog toys. All I can say is "wow!" They are pricey, but look like a great way to give your dog some fun challenges, especially for those times when you need a break from providing all the challenges or they're laid up, etc.

Aren't they great? My dog has had the opportunity to "test drive" a couple of them, and once he figured them out he was SO excited and wanted to keep playing:-)
I would like to buy at least one of them but they are pricey. Ingenious ideas behind these toys though...so cool.

Agree completely! I'm lucky that Ripley is a favorite at our local pet store. The clerks tell me they like for him to come in and "demo" theses toys. I haven't seen anyone buy one yet, though. Too spendy. They're making less pricey plastic versions, but I haven't seen one in person yet.

My dogs are about up to the speed of a stuffed kong.
Right now they have an egg carton with kibble in it....masking taped shut. (cheap recycling) They are not as motivated to get the food as my old bullmastiffs were. For them they would just put a foot on one end and demolish the other end. One bite, fun done. Half the time they ate the box too.
I have a couple like toys for my parrot. But once she figured them out she was less motivated also. She bores easily.

I know these, they had a demo of cool pet toys in the town over from us a while back. They're super fun for the dogs (they had the turbo, fighter, brick, tornado, and trubble at the expo). They let dogs present try them. The seems great for the super food motivated hounds that were there but my pup and a gorgeous german shepherd there figured them out way to quickly to justify spending that much money on one.

The puzzles look great but Tasha would just take out all the removable parts and sling them around the living room.
I want the bubble machine they sell on that site!

I like this:

It's more on the IQ level of my dogs.
But those toys make me think that I might work out a kind of puzzle for my dogs ... maybe Find the Treat and then get it from under the upside-down box?
I'm not good at visualizing puzzles. Has anyone made any "thinking toys" or games/puzzles for their dogs?

Nothing that interesting...mostly putting treats in boxes and taping them shut, putting her under a towel or blanket, stuff like that.
But, I've got a great book that has a lot of challenging things/learning exercises to do with your dog that I've been saving up for my next pup. (I've got a pile I'm saving to read soon as the litter is confimed<g>.) There are a lot of set-up situations you compose, then let the pup/dog try to figure it out...I'm sure I'll be posting about them.

I started thinking about that myself, Jamie. Once they figure it out, not sure how much continued fun it would be.
And, my last dog would've just picked the whole thing up and thrown it around the room, just like she did with the Buster Cube, I'm sure.
But, might could be some fun for a young pup in learning mode...soon as I win the lotto...
