ok, I have the video, and my female gsd is 10wks old and I just got her last night, and I am FREAKING OUT!!! I have her peeing outside, but alas, she is pooping in the crate. This crate is small etc, and I know it is not her fault, but I am scared that I won't be able to correct this. is this my fault or the breeders? For instance, today we had breakfast and played in the kitchen, and then I took her out to "go potty," and nothing. so we went back in to play and then back out again to go potty, and nothing, so I walked her and then told her to go potty and nothing. So I thought maybe it just wasn't time, so I put her in her crate and took a shower and she pooped in the crate. she did this last night too. I am cleaning it up etc, but I just want to know, are these isolated situations? Will this get better? and should I confront the breeder about this? I don't want to sound like I am giving up on her, but I am not to excited about buying a pup that has major pooping issues to begin with. I've read the Q&A, and watched the video, I was just wondering if I can get any advice?

Start taking the dog outside every hour. Make sure it gets exericse. Some dogs a pigs some owners dont have the work ethic to do whats need - there is no silver bullet that is going to make things easier.

Re-read the Q&A on housetraining on my web site. I have addresses a number of peope with the same problem.

Really! The sulfer on the match will have it out in 2 or 3 minutes.

Matching a dog is an old dog show trick to keep from being embaressed by your dog in the pretty ring. Yes, it works, but it doesn't teach the dog anything other than not to turn it's back on you. Also, it's not the sulphur, it's the irritation of a foreign object being placed where the sun don't shine. I don't think this would do a thing for this situation.

I don't know about dog shows, but I do know it's similar to old tricks used before horse shows...along with all sorts of other "nasties".
ie, like sticking ginger up the anus to get the animal to raise it's tail (American Standard Show horse) and so look "pretty" in the ring.
That's temporary of course; cutting into the muscle of the tail is a lot more permanent...(Tennessee Walker Show horse)

David, Ann is right. What I said is true. The "show world" is an amazing place if you want to learn how to color/drug/fold/spindle/mutilate dogs for the sake of ribbons. I had one judge tell me I would be doing better if I learned how to alter the color on the dog I was showing :rolleyes: . A week later, I beat him and his dyed dog at a different show. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I haven't been in the show ring in over ten yrs. Wont go back either.

I believe, in all seriousness, that 99% of show people have serious mental problems.

People dye their dogs for the show ring???? That is SICK!! Well, she stopped pooping in her crate, but she stopped pooping completely. But unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to fix that, she snapped and growled quite aggressively at my best friends kids, and I took her back. And now I am starting to think that show people are nuts too. Just read my post in puppy questions....
