I stumbled on this last week and it made me happy for like a solid 48 hours... guess it's time to watch it again and start the week off on an emotional high!
Maybe you have to be an animal lover, but it really is incredibly touching.
Wow, South Georgia??
Never would have guessed! That was really cool! Animals are amzing creatures! This one sure seemed to love being near that woman.
Thanks for posting Leih!
Actually, I don't think you are being cynical at all, actually just smart! Any wild animal like that with teeth can bite.
She's a lucky woman she didn't get bit.
She was taking a big risk, but it turned out good for her.

Must admit, I was holding my breath when he started to wiggle his way on top of her. There was all kinds of potential for the situation to have an unfavorable outcome.
Looks like she knew what she was doing though and made for some wonderful video footage.
I'm not sure that she really knew what she was doing....but I think that she was VERY lucky. I kept looking at the bull elephant seal right in front of them & hoping that he wasn't going to do anything about her being there so close. I'm not sure that I would be quite so trusting. She was lucky for the good outcome.
It was very touching, though. I guess aninmals have the extra perception that we don't & can tell when someone means them harm.
Lucky lady for sure.
