Thought you guys would be interested in this. What a shame to see a good alternative to raw being sold to a conglomerate. I use EVO Herring & Salmon in my rotation, but as soon as this is finalized I will stop.
Thanks for the heads up, although I will say that the last 2 bags of EVO that I bought were not good. I dropped it from my rotation because of excess chaf throughout the entire bag.
I am super bummed! I occasionally feed the canned 95% meat.
This reminds me of the AG commercial about "ADM, supermarket to
the world" kind of mentality now that the huge conglomerate P&G istaking over
Natura. At least I still have Honest Kitchen.
It is depressing. I have always considered Natura to be top notch and being that they are one of the few companies that produce their food at their own plant with local ingredients I have always trusted them. We will see what changes will be made, but they probably will start selling at the big chains and quality will go down in order to mass produce. They will probably still market it the same, but we know what happens when things like this occur. I will need to find a new food for my rotation. Looks like they will be on Orijen for awhile since that is the only other company I trust at this point. Maybe time to look greater into raw, just so expensive for three large dogs.
Thanks Meredith. i have checked them out before and like that they make their dry food at their own plant, but I have only found one place that carries it and they are almost as bad as the large retail stores. Plus it was $80 a bag. I will check into it again and see if anywhere else carries it.
A lot of the private owned dog stores will "special" order whatever you'd like, especially easier if their distribution company carries that line you are requesting. Sometimes they won't stock it, so you may have to pre-plan the needs but worth a try.
