This weekend I spent at the annual Michael Ellis seminar in Montana. I think this is my 7th or 8th year attending and it is always great to see Michael and train dogs with him. He brought Pi with him and I have to say it is a toss up to whom I enjoy seeing more - Pi or Michael :-)
Pi and Frost again had fun running around together. It's been a long time coming but I think that in a year or so I will be looking at getting a Pi kid to do ring or SchH with. All my ACDs think they are malis anyway since that is the breed we hang out the most with.
As is usually the case, we ran the gamut of weather - starting out with snow Saturday morning and continuing to cold and raining the entire the day to mostly sunny weather on Sunday. Some of us took advantage of the crappy weather to roast smores on the fire pits lit for people to warm up under
No video this year due in part to weather and in part to pure laziness but I did shoot a bunch of photos. Some of my personal favorites:
Thanks! This seminar was actually pretty evenly split between obedience only people and sport people. Because there were a lot of new people, Michael spent Saturday morning talking about operant vs. classical conditioning and things like that. When it came to working, people just worked on things they wanted to with their dogs.
For instance, I worked partly on keeping my dog engaged and in drive in the AKC obedience ring as I tend to feel claustrophobic and suppress drive when I am in a small AKC ring versus an open Schutzhund field.
Wow, that shot of Pi jumping the hurdle with the mountains in the background is to die for! And I love how Frost's harness says BITE on it. Does it say FROST on the other side??
