Took all three of my beasts to the vet yesterday for their rabies shot. And here's what the news is:
Shaed is in good health, but overweight... she had weighed about 70lbs at last years check up and before she was spayed-now she's 80lbs. Not good, but fixable.
Otto is in good health, but also overweight. The fatty has gained 10lbs as well, and now tops the scales at 90lbs! Can't believe that those two have ballooned the way they have.
I will be honest, they haven't had as much exercise as they could have had. Not to make excuses, but me chasing a toddler and currently pregnant and not knowing how I'm going to feel from day to day, and the fact that my hubby works shift work and we have home projects going on doesn't help matters.
And Lily, poor thing, has ear infections in both ears, which I will blame on the recent humididty and all the dirt in the yard from a couple of projects (dog run and patio), she gets to have her ears flushed out daily and ear drops twice daily until I take her in for another checkup in 2-3wks. Other than that, she's in good health and the vet said that she is pushing maximum weight for her breed and sex (I think that 133lbs for a female Saint is actually pretty decent considering the weight range for males and females is between 110-200lbs, not too big and not too little, IMO).
Now to get a pulling harness and cart for Lily (really want to do this and it looks like alot of fun!!), a pulling harness for Shaed (and maybe it'll fit Otto too) so they can pull my hubby's new Prowler (http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=390&pid=2294) it weighs 70-76lbs without extra weight on it. Will be a good workout for us and the dogs

10% off the food dish will work wonders, too.
You have their weights, so you could begin the 10% reductions and re-check their weight in three weeks.
PS
I'm a big fan of across-the-board moderate food reduction for a chubby-but-healthy dog, NOT some random reduction in a macronutrient (like fat).
If you can't stand the tragic faces when they see the less-full bowls , you could always fluff up the dish with some canned no-sodium (or frozen French-cut) green beans. These are very cheap, cooked in the processing, and, in the case of the frozen ones, which are only blanched, sliced down the middle to minimize that cell-wall barrier. (The canned ones are cooked to death anyway.)
Don't worry, everyone who has had a kid knows what you are going through. I only have one kid, but I had 2 dogs when I had him. The first 3 months were hell for my dogs I'm sure. Not getting out as much, not getting worked as much. But they forgave me!
I did reduce their food intake to coincide with their lessened energy output, they maintained their manly physiques and stayed healthy too
We've already started the decrease in food, until they get more activity, which is going to start increasing here very soon (tonight for starters, going on a overnight tent camping trip, will be daughters first tent camping experience-keeping fingers crossed since she's not quite 2yrs). Don't think Shaed cares if there's less food right now, Otto is a naturally hungry all time, since he is a Lab, lol.
Funny thing the vet said to me about their diet was that they don't need "that much protien" when I told her what they've been eating and how much, etc., I didn't even say a word to her abut that, and she didn't elaborate... she's learned that I'm a "lost cause" on the commercial kibble front lol

Let us know how the camping trip goes. I bet your daughter surprises you. I remember my niece at around 2 years old. They went camping quite often and if you'd ask Claire why she shook her shoes out in the morning, she tell you it was to get the bugs and snakes out. LOL
I never tell most vets what I feed unless specifically asked.
