My 20 mos. old female is just about ready to go into season. This will be her third heat cycle. This time she seems to have trouble holding her urine. Is this normal for a cycle and at her age? Just looking for some insight. Had an accident this am (extremely out of the norm) and also on our walk this am relieved her self on the sidewalk (again this has never happened). I am new to intact females and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have had it be a UTI and had it not.I have always gotten a check for it. I have had three or four different bitches that did this. One was a UTI the other three weren't. With the ones that weren't it lasted abit over two weeks and then they went on with life. Loads of fun.

SOme females do that. I have 3 at the moment (totally dealen with heats of 6 females) and only one has done this but I don´t know it is a combo of her being young and not totally house broken at the time of the heat. She didn´t have a UTI at the time of the heat but developed one afterwards so keep an eye out. I have heard of dogs that always have house breaking problems during their heats and with both peeing and pooping.
