Are there any out there that seem to do a good job on the meats and bones, without breaking the budget? I really want it for the veggies, but I intens to grind up some of the RMB's for the veggie "slop" mix as well.

I have on old crank-style one that was my grandmothers. I can stick a chicken leg in there, and it's ground with 3-4 turns of the handle. Once I realized how easily they chomp the bones, I seldom use it anymore, but will hold on to it for when they get old, otherwise I'd offer to send it to you. I can try to snap a picture if you want.

I use a meat hammer mostly for parts my little dogs have trouble chewing. I do have an old turn crank grinder that does a fantastic job on just about anything I stuff into it.
It may not be as cheap as a hand-crank, but I've been using this one for over a couple years. I've gone through about 1/2 ton of whole chickens and stuff and never missed a beat. It'll grind up anything you can ram down the inlet. OTOH, the blade did lose a battle with the disposal once
If you're not in a big hurry, occasionally they'll offer it at another $10-$15 off.
Although, admittedly, it is expensive. But it earns it's keep at my house with four dogs that eat a ground raw diet. It did 300 pounds of chicken backs, duck necks, beef heart, and frozen sardines this weekend. This one will do turkey bones with ease. I've put many a whole turkey through it.
Hey Mike will that northern tool grinder grind turkey bones?
Obviously, mine doesn't compare to the one Tracy uses, but it's ground up everything I've stuffed in it. That's the limitation - you've got to get stuff to a size that will fit down the inlet - 1-3/4"
