I'm new to the forum. I have been reading the forums existing posts and the E-books for a while and just ordered the Basic Ob Dvd. Pack structure and rules have been established with my Bulldogs, but after watching many of the video's, I'm confused on which dvd would be the best to start with.
Should I start with the Basic Ob dvd that;s on the way OR should I start with the marker training dvd, or with Mike Ellis' power of food and/or playing tug with your dog? Thanks in advance for any help or advise!
You can't go wrong with the marker training video - it will open lots of doors for you and your dogs! How old are they, btw? Oh, and welcome to the forum!
Barbara, both of my dogs are 11 months old. My female (Pit/Cattledog mix) earned her CGC about a month ago, but I want to keep the working relationship ongoing and ever improving as I spend a lot of time with my dogs and of course want the same for him. My male (American Bulldog) has not yet been trained in any formal Ob, other than pack structure, social manners and house rules. We just got him about two months ago. I also work with both daily on focus and engagement as best I can through reading here.
The marker training DVD is the next one I will order. I'm hoping I can start him off the right way and continue to improve with her. Unfortunately, I started her off attending an old school "yank and crank" style Ob Class before I was aware of the Marker method or Leerburg. I'm in hopes of one day advancing to Trial Ob of some sort or Agility training, but realize we must accomplish a solid working/Ob foundation and relationship first.
I am really just not realizing how large and vast this forum is and I just found the FAQ section of the website. Spent hours reading today. What great information!
