As I'm typing this my overly enthusiastic neighbors are lighting off M80-type fireworks. This has been going on all week.
Chula goes nuts whenever one of the really big ones goes off. Defensive, loud barking, running from the front door to the back door, etc.
I plan to crate her tomorrow night (she's generally calm in the crate) with a stuffed, frozen Kong.
So, my question is, how do I deal with the pre 4th random fireworks? Just ignore it? A 'Knock it off!' on my part does not seem to be doing the trick...
This seems to be a pretty defensive reaction for her, and I don't want to do anything to make it worse...

and, to add a bit more info, she sometimes has these types of reactions when she hears others things, like a strange dog barking (in close proximity), or an unfamiliar noise outside. I'm looking for the best way to deal with these 'over the top' (IMO) reactions.
