I just heard today, that by Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week, we will probably be at 105 degrees - not heat index - but heat. This is Virginia in early July!! The past few days have been lovely - in the low 80's with little humidty, but prior to that, we endured the hottest June on record!!!
Falcon takes after his mother unfortunately... me. I sweat like a farm animal and get mean and grouchy. We both LOVED this past winter because for the first time in my life, we had SNOW on the ground for almost an entire months. Ahhhhhh... it was pure bliss.
Okay, I'm done ranting. But both Falcon and I HATE summer!!!

Oh we have been enjoying the kiddie pool all season. Falcon won't lay down in it however, just splashes his head and face all in the water - going completely under! Sadie is the pool hog - she lays and lounges like a queen.
I've been known to get in the koi pond from time to time to cool off... Adam once told me "mother, you look like the village idiot" to which I replied "sweetheart, every village needs one."

Last week was hot here! One night we ended up going for a super long walk at about 11:00pm because the day was much too hot to do anything.

Hey Barbara---no a/c at my place. I'm thinking of putting a kiddie pool in the living room for the rest of the summer.
I forgot sunscreen while walking a shelter dog in a parade today. My neck is a ring of fire.
My cat feels it necessary to drape his long-a** fur all over me in weather like this, as he knows how crazy it makes me. As soon as he falls asleep I'm getting out the clippers. Kitteh mohawk, anyone?

It's about 90F and humid in VT right now...quite hot by our standards, and getting hotter in the next few days. Air conditioning is a very, very beautiful thing. My dog and I don't mind getting hot because we have the means to escape it. I think it makes a big difference.
While we're actually out though: Kool Collars (FABULOUS with crushed ice in them outdoors), H2O4K9 , and a few breaks in the shade make it all more better
I actually LOVE the heat and find winter/snow/cold kinda depressing. Winter is just so loooong.....It takes all summer to thaw the frost from my bones.

Thanks for starting the new thread, Barbara. I was going to but too tired & lazy to do it at this point. I packaged 150 lbs of dog RMB & meat today that I picked up at my wholesaler & took the dogs a couple of times to run at the field & playing in my yard. I'm beat. Thank god for central air. I don't have much shade in my yard, so the dogs go out for a run etc & then hang in the house until around 4pm & then stay out for several more hours. They are in & out throughout the day.
We have had several days of cooler less humid weather finally, but it will be back to the usuall HHH tomorrow. Can't believe the bizzar weather conditions you have been having in the south the last 6+ months or so. Crazy for sure. Gotta love global warming. UGH.
I use a kiddle pool, but Zasha hates it & won't go in except to retreive her ball. Bodie will play in it, but won't lay down in it. He would rather play with the hose spray. But he goes completely nuts. I have to put him in a down to get the pool filled. They both love the water at the beach, though. But they won't let you take dogs to the beach around here until the end of Sept.

My neighbor took his cat in for a lion cut. $180. Not only is the cat miserable (hid for 2 days) but they have to go under anesthesia to get it done. I'll just keep furminating and bandaging my post-grooming wounds. (Never having another cat, btw. NEVER.)

Oh Meredith, my heart and soul go out to you! NO AC?? I grew up without AC but since getting married, Doug has alwasy said he would work four jobs to keep the AC going! (That says much about how nice I am when summer hits!) A kiddie pool and a big hunk o' ice in the living room, with a fan blowing across the ice is definitely in order! (As is a frozen adult beverage of choice!) Absolutley shave the kitty down. Don't even leave the mohawk - he will just rub that all over you in revenge!
