We have a 6 months black lab puppy, just neutured this week. I am the primary caregiver and trainer and he is eager to please me especially with food/praise reward. I'm confused though how he sees me verses my husband. when he greets me, he waggles his tail but never licks my face...my husband on the other hand, he licks to death. I've also noticed that most often he will put his front paws on couch and stand tall to tower over my husband if he is laying there or he will jump right on top of him and literally walk all over him, stepping wherever he wants. With me he does not do this. I've read that licking is a demonstration of being submissive to the alpha leader but yet the towering Or bracing exhibits challenge of position (i think).

The jumping on your hubby when he is kickin' it on the couch could be as simple as hubby allows this, you don't.
Play like this is totally normal, even among dogs of different levels of dominance.
The licking of his face? That says to me again that it is as simple as he has reinforced it and you have not. It could also be a form of submission to him, that means he knows who is the most dominate personality.
Whatever the reasons, it doesn't sound like a problem. . .so don't sweat it.
Labs are not known for their high level of dominance or handler/owner aggression. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
