I'm looking for a close, safe park to use to hang out with her for a while to let the traffic calm down a bit, as well as to get to know her and give her a chance to be out of a crate for a while before we start the drive home. What is the Crystal City neighborhood like? I see a park called Fort Scott Park in that general area. There is also lots of green space on the map close to the river, but I have no idea if one can actually use those spaces (parking, etc.). Is this a safe park to use for my purposes? If not, I'm open to suggestions. I am not the least bit familiar with the DC area. Thanks!

As long as you keep the puppy close by and restrained you should be OK. You will have to take the GW Parkway to get home, most likely? So you could go up that highway towards Rosslyn/DC, and get off at something called Roosevelt Island. Very nice, secluded little island right in the middle of the Potomac.

Ross...don't think I'll be taking the GW Pkwy, as I'll be using 66 (unless they're the same thing<g>. I'll definitely try to access the waterfront rec areas, tho.
