I am going to go from all raw, to THK plus RMBs for most of Kasey's meals. I'm wondering how you guys decide how much to feed of each. He only eats chicken RMB's (our choices where we live are very limited), and we are using Thrive (the one with chicken and quinoa). So I was thinking about feeding a chicken back with each meal of Thrive, but some of them are pretty big so I'm trying to figure out how to feed enough Thrive to be nutritionally balanced, but not so much food so that he'll gain weight. Hope I'm making sense. If not, I'd like to hear tips on feeding this combo.

Since backs are pretty nicely calcium:phosphorus balanced in themselves, it's pretty loose for you (the proportion part).
If you were feeding something like boneless meat with it, then I would adhere to the guidelines on the box. They keep you within the acceptable spread of calcium to phosphorus with the limit on how much not-balanced meat you can add and still be within that range.
I think several folks here regularly feed THK with RMBs, too, so you'll get more personalized replies.

I use preference with Bodie so it's pretty clear on how much to use. For thrive I'd probably go 50/50 with a rmb and 1/3 with a straight protein like ground meat or an eggy meal.

Thank you very much for that.
Do people generally prefer THK over Origen? That was going to be sort of my go-to for kibble.
It's kind of apples and oranges: THK isn't a kibble. If you can do THK with RMBs, then my vote goes to that. It's fine to mix with raw, and kibble isn't. That's not all; THK is not baked to death. It's low-temp dried.
The problem with mixing kibble and raw has to do with kibble needing to be re-hydrated in the gut, prior to digestion. Its hard and dense, and takes longer to clear the digestive tract, slowing the passage of raw food, which allows for the colonization of potentially harmful bacteria.
THK doesn't need re-hydration in the gut. We've already re-hydrated it in the bowl.
I almost killed the dog in my signature by feeding kibble in the morning and raw at night.
