My Pointer puppy has demodectic mange and of course the vet recommended treatment is armitraz dips every two weeks. He has had two dips but I'm not really keen on pouring this stuff all over him every couple weeks. He has had no new spots appear, the smaller ones are getting smaller and the larger ones are no longer red and inflamed looking. I'm considering not dipping him any more and just waiting it out. He is not quit 5 months old. What are your thoughts?

Demo isn't something to screw with. I'd continue with the dips until the vet says to stop. I'd probably only stop after I had two negative scrapings done on the dog.
Demodectic if I'm remembering right and it's not juvenile onset, has other under lying issues, take care of those issues and the mange goes away of it's own accord.
He had maybe 7 or 8 spots develope mainly on his face. It's hasn't spread. He was found as about a 8-10 week old puppy, malnourished and covered in ticks.

Localized puppy demodex (I think almost always on the face) is very different from generalized demodex.
I think 8 spots exceeds the usual cut-off of "localized" versus "generalized," which I think is 5 spots ... but then again the fact that it has not spread from the face is another point on the localized side.
I have a very good "which is which" vet site's recap saved, but can't find it right this second.
I will, though.
Adult dogs who get demodex generally have an underlying immune system problem that is letting it overrun on the body. Localized demodex in puppies is different; it usually resolves spontaneously (90% of the time, as I recall, but I WILL find authoritative backup).
