If anyone sees any glaring problems with these rules/guidelines let me know and I'll revise one more time. (Thank you for all the input).
FUN training video contest. NO ONE needs to feel like they aren't good enough for this!!!
1. Open to ALL Leerburg forum members. New or "old" trainers - serious or just fun trainers.
2. Video must be of a new behavior you began training no earlier than Friday, August 6th.
3. Videos can be posted any time throughout the week until midnight, Sunday, August 15th. I will create a CONTEST VIDEOS thread and all videos should be posted on that thread - NOT INDIVIDUALLY!! (We want it easy for people to view and enjoy and eventually VOTE!)
4. The four categories will be:
CUTEST, MOST ORIGINAL, FUNNIEST, MOST DIFFICULT
5. Michael Wise is going to post a step by step thread on how to post your videos.
6. There will be a VOTING thread created, and all votes will be posted there. Voting will be open from Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 20th. Winners will be announced officially on Sunday, August 22. I will keep a tally and have asked another forum member to do so as well. Obviously, the votes will be public, so all can tally too! (Not to be confused with Tally Ho!)
7. The contest is free and open to all. FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO CONTRIBUTE TO A PRIZE FUND - please send BOTH me and Connie (she doesn't know this yet) a PM stating how much you want to contribute. Connie doesn't have to do anything; I'm asking you send the amount to us both simply to provide those donating an extra level of comfort. I will front the prize money and people can send me either a check or cash. Address to be provided with your PM. Funds should not be sent until AFTER voting is finalized and winners announced.
8. Prize money (gift certifcate/credit for Leerburg products) will be divided evenly amoung the top winners in each of the four categories. If one category does not receive any votes, the funds will be divided evenly amoung the three, etc...
If I've missed anything, please let me know ASAP.
HAVE FUN, no pressure, we will all enjoy seeing ALL the videos regardless of how perfect or grainy in texture!

Is there anyway the last posting day could be the 16th? We are doing a concert this weekend and I don't think I will be able to get to an internet shop on Sunday. We are going to be in a new area and internet shops are hard to come by in some places, not to mention on Sunday.

Do we have to declare our intended behavior before taping? Like calling your shot in pool?
EG- I want my Pink to drop on command mid-herding, all the real herding dogs can do that. At present we have "attack mode" and "out" which means "stop doing whatever with the cows, get out of the pen, or at least look away, 'quit'". Real herding dogs can be stopped and started.
So we were going to try and learn that this week. (It's not going well!)

No need to pre-call your plan. Why? Because if your "Plan A" doesn't go as planned, you can switch to another behavior. This is for fun and to get us trying something different.
Trust me... I may be on Plan C by next Friday night... I may have aspired too high for this event! LOL!

So I had a little extra time this afternoon...
I started with the 5 y/o dog with one trick. Then I need to do something with the 19 m/o so I started her on another trick. Then after I spent all the time with those two, my 11 y/o was chomping at the bit to do something (hey, she's smart - if the 2 "kids" get to do something for treats, then she needs to as well!), so I thought up something new to teach her as well....
It should be interesting to see who learns what first. Or if what I started with morphs into something else.
ETA - I guess this raises another question - can we enter more than one dog if we complete the challenge with more than one?

Oh good.
Because thus far "ashamed puppy" has been epic failure.
Somewhere I must have accidentally marked both feet being off the ground. I now cannot seem to persuade her to put one of them down. Its hard to undo a mistake like that, lol.

Meee too! My 'scratch' trick so far has equated to a spin, spin and more spins. YIKES.
And thank you Barbara for the time and work put into organizing this.

Switching to a different behavior turned out to be the ticket for me. We're on the road to Happyville now.
Ugh, sometimes all you have to do is mark the wrong behavior once, lol.
We'll eventually master "shame", but its not going to happen in the time allotted, sadly.

I'm going to say yes, you can enter more than one dog, but that each person can only win one time. Fair enough? This way, one really, really talented trainer with several really experienced dogs won't be able to get a "clean-sweep" and have all the rest of us crying and hanging our heads in shame...
