This is just a really frustrated post about dog toys. How can it be that my dog with half his teeth missing just destroyed the "virtually indestructible" Bento ball that I just got at Petsmart?!?!?!?!?!? It took him less than minutes to puncture it and within an hour that thing was in shreds. As soon as he ripped a piece off I took it away but you would think that if they have the gall to call something "virtually indestructible" and charge an arm and a leg for it it would last longer than that with a dog who obviously has most his teeth gone??????? Unbelievable. It took him about two hours to chew up the disc. One more toy that does not work. I hate the smell of rubber and he does too so he won't touch the Kong. Anyways. Thanks for wasting your time and reading through my frustrations.
Have you tried 'buttering up' the Kong with some peanut butter, or wet dog food? (Or stuff raw in it, if you feed raw diet) Once my Kong's get some use I don't notice the smell of rubber.
we put ours in the dishwasher to wash it. after two or three washes after he plays with it being "buttered up" you cant smell the rubber smell anymore. Have you looked into Orbee balls? they have a minty smell to them no rubber smell at all.

I feel your pain!
Tucker took about 2 minutes to destroy one of those "indestructble" rubber tire things!
side note...if you wash your Kong in the dishwasher, make sure to take it out before it gets to the drying stage of the wash. The heat will make the Kong brittle over time.
OHH also only put them on the top rack with the cups and bowls. Helps if you space like I did the first time they wont melt. Kongs .. yes agree Kongs are fun fun toys!
