Just fantastic Jamie!! You just make it so fun for Ryuk, and you certainly know how to inspire us all!
I agree with Meredith, when are you going to do agility? He seems like the perfect candidate!
Thanks for posting! Loved it!
I would LOVE to do agility....however most of the places around here require you take a class with them before you can rent the area for an hour at the time to train on the equiptment. I think that's totally justified but average price of a class is about $110 for a 4-5 week session. At this point I can't afford that, and I'm back in school come the end of the month which knocks out the most of the times I can do the classes. Not to mention, between training classes and a new computer I need to get for school before this one blows up....computer gets priority! And I'm not tapping into the vet fund for classes since YOU KNOW that's always when the dog gets sick.
I've made some homemade things to play on, but I don't have a private yard (apartment), and I don't have the storage to keep them (I have the smallest bedroom of a small 2 bedroom apartment with 3 people living in it so, NO space at all)....we're still looking. I've found one lady that says she will do a private lesson or two with me ($35 a half hour) to "evaluate my training ability" then after she'll decide if I'm a allowed to rent her ring by the hour. I"m a little nervous since she's one of those "no correction EVER" trainers that won't even say "no" to a dog...I don't think she'll "approve" me.
Ryuk's pretty young, I"m hoping that in another few years I'll be out of school, maybe in a house share or something that'll let me have a yard we can work in! Then we'll be able to play around. I did bring him to a super low key training competition for charity and entered him a while back so he'd at least get to try it out. He'd NEVER seen agility equipment and I was asking him to go on it. Was a very fun day for all (he actually placed XD of course considering most of the competition ran off the course or decided to chase the judges it wasn't that impressive)
However, if there's anyone in Western Mass (or even southern Vermont) that you know, has an agility course in their backyard they let people rent to train on let me know XD
You have time. I know a dog who didn't begin his agility career until he was 7. At 10, he still loves it, but his owner is trying to slow him down now for safety. Classes are so expensive in your area! My training club costs $85 a year for unlimited classes. I'm very spoiled.
