My dogs, that is. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Seriously, my 4 year old male gsd gets very aggressive and nasty with my 6 year old female gsd when we go into the back yard. I think he's trying to tell her that any attention being given will go to him. I give him verbal corrections but it's not working. I'm thinking of getting an electronic collar to administer a correction when he disobeys. Your thoughts?
It sounds like he probably is trying to hog the attention. Do you ever work them in obedience simultaneously, like having them both in long downstays at the same time? I would suggest using obedience control over both of them, i.e., holding a sit or a down position. Reward the female first, then reward the male. If the male leaves his position, correct him and put him back. The male needs to learn to wait his turn, that you will decide when he gets attention. Whenever he starts harassing the female, get control over him through obedience commands. You might have him drag a leash when you take him out back so you can get control over him if he tries to blow you off.
