Hey has anyone ordered the Chicken Backs from Omaspride.com?
do you get skinless or with skin?
I see that some people on the forum has ordered the beef patties, but I am using the barf diet in general to feed him.
But I can't find Chicken Backs anywhere. Omaspride.com has them for 16.00 for 40lbs, but you have to spend another 25 in a ice chest and shipping. So its 45.00 to get it to my house. A little more then a buck a pound.
I live in Herndon VA.. Just can't find the backs. everything else has been easy to find.
I get my necks from the "grand market" which is an asian market. I have not really ask anyone to order it for me.. I will get out this evening and ask if they will order it for me. has to be cheaper then the above.

Yup. Just ask. I get bulk orders of backs from the meat dept. manager at a smaller African-American grocery store. He also orders duck necks and beef and pork hearts for me--all in 50-pound cases. All these products are out there...it's just a matter of finding the right person who knows the right person. All those necks used to have a back attached--so they are somewhere!
ETA: if you totally strike out on finding backs, I'd just buy whole chickens locally and cut them up. That would still be cheaper than paying shipping on backs from OmasPride. Sam's Club sells whole chickens by the case. Cut them up (perhaps even saving the nice breast meat for the humans in the house) and then give the rest of the carcass to the dogs. Whole chickens are an almost "whole prey" model anyway. They are ususally missing most of the organs, but they are pretty close to a whole bird.
Check restraunt/wholesale suppliers...that's where I get all my dog food from in 40lb cases. I get all fresh necks, backs, & leg qtrs.
I get 10# rolls of ground turkey & beef. Ground pork & lamb in 20# bags. I also get organ meets. I pay $12 a case for necks & backs & $ 18 for Qtrs.
Call around, maybe even get some other raw feeders in your area to buy & you might be able to get a wholesale to sell to you in large amounts. When I buy I get 250+ of meats at a time & it lasts me about 3 months.

Whole Foods orders them for me when they don't have enough in the store. They cut their own chickens there, so unless some other raw feeder comes in a wipes them out, I can usually get them. But they will order a case for you too. There are 5 of them in VA http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/all/index.php#va
