Going on a road trip for Labor Day and am trying not to spend the extra $ to upgrade to an SUV rental. Louie!

We had to get a minivan The easiest way would be for you to take the crate to a rental or used car lot and ask to try the most common models and then contact the rental at the location and ask them for a model that fits the crate. eta: The back seats are designed for sitting, a crate will sit tilted and rock while the car is moving. Much simpler to get an SUV. You'll have a much more pleasant trip An SUV or a minivan has better ventilation and stays cooler IME.
