Ryuk and I did a uh we'll call it an "obedience" competition a while ago and we won a prize pack with one of those dog DNA tests in it....we'll it was free so I sent it in a few weeks ago!
It looks like I have part of my dream breed! According to the test Ryuk is a good chunk Australian Cattle Dog (that we guessed) then equal parts GSD and Malinois (dream breed) then some "undefined"
I always figured Cattle dog/GSD...I'm surprised by the Malinois since well....I don't think they're really common in middle of nowhere upstate New York? It's the father stray that was Malinois/something else since mom was mostly Cattle dog with GSD a generation back. Dad is described as "giant demon coyote wolf" which I always figured to be german shepherd mutt....
But now I have a "designer dog" name to call him when people ask...it'll be nice to mix up my usual response of "Craigslist Cattle Shepherd" (you won't believe how many people ask where they can get one XD...um....Craigslist?)

I like that name! It sounds really legit! You can define your own breed standard...

What great news!!
I've always always wanted an ACDGSDMalEtc! (Shepalinois is the nickname; the official breed name, ACDGSDMalEtc, is hard to pronounce.)

I always thought he was 1/2 border terrier, 1/2 lab, and full blooded Lhasa.

I kind of like the 'CraigsList Cattle Shepherd" sounds cute.
Neat dog. So, now I need to get an ACD, a ASD, and a Mal to create my own Ryuk.........

LOL! I don't have much faith in those tests, your guy looks all ACD to me :-) I have joked with Michael that if we bred Frost to Pi we would have Cattlois' puppies :-p

He looks purebred until you actually put him next to one you know is purebred. He's really leggy, lighter through the body, his ears are to long (face is spot on though), tail carriage is different, not to mention he's bigger than even some big males I've seen.

He wouldn't be the terrific dog he is without an owner committed to bring out his best.
What "brand" of DNA test did you use? From all we see of Ryuk, their pedigree sounds dead-on accurate.
