I would like to know what people on here do to make it so their dog does not get collar wise. All I have to do is put the e-collar on Zuki and she behaves better. But I don't want her to listen only when she has the collar on. I have tried putting it on way ahead of time but I think she has come to the conclusion of two rods in my neck = zap when I do something I shouldn't. Any ideas or is this just the way it is?
Ed recommends putting the ecollar on and off prior to using it, along with a flat collar, prong, etc... , sometimes all collars on at one time so the dog does NOT learn to associate the collar itself with the nick. This should be done for a few weeks.
I'm interested to hear what others say, but you may have to purchase a "faux" ecollar for her to wear (I personally would not have it on as tight as the real ecollar).
That is not the correct term, and I apologize. However, you can order an "empty" ecollar which is the same size / design but which does not have the interior components - it will not function. However, to the dog, if "is" the same thing.
Trying to be funny with Michael may have been misconstrued by others so I've deleted.
I know what I meant but it may have not come across as funny... hate it when I step on my twinkie!!
Elizabeth, yes, Faux is french for fake, so what we are talking about is a fake ecollar. It is the only word I know in french so I wasn't trying to be uppity. (Now, THERE is a word you don't hear too often!! LOL!)

Didn't figure you were...lol! I just thought that was a real name of something I didn't know about

yeah! You can call me irriating. You can call me drop dead gorgeous (Steve S.), you can call my dog too dang purty... Just don't call me late for dinner or uppity!
Well Barbara, I think your "faux collar" name is much more charming than the apparent legit "dummy collar". How would have poor Elizabeth felt had you said:
"Well obviously you need a DUMMY collar for YOUR dog!"
(no offense to Melissa for knowing the real name or Elizabeth for not!)
