A while back I posted asking folks for suggestions on where we might go for Christmas. At the time, I set parameters of staying within about an 8 hour drive of Virginia.
Since then, two things have happened... A dear friend who owns a time share/condominium company, upon learning of our desire to not be home during the holidays generously offered us a week at any of their properties around the world (I am so blessed by dear friends in my life - in both high and low places ) AND our own Will R posted some info about Front Sight http://www.frontsight.com/.
My husband is happily looking forward to his four day Advanced Handgun course and we will also be enjoying all that Las Vegas has to offer. Neither of us are gamblers, but I'm soliciting suggestions from those who know the area as to what you would recommend. We'll have a rental car and will be in the area between 7 - 10 days. (We are fortunate to have family which owns the property next to ours who will be taking care of the critters.)
So far, we've been told to not miss Hushpuppies - a great seafood place.
I can't find my initial post, but I'm pretty sure I said who ever led us to our holiday destination would get a $25 LB gift certificate... Happy shopping Will.
My neighbors did a course with Front Sight earlier in the year and they loved it…..husband and I were thinking of doing the beginners course next year.
Vegas is a blast, I can walk around for hours just watching the free property shows, plus put me in front of Bellagio’s fountain and I’m mesmerized until it stops. I’m not a shopper but I love going into Caesars Palace shops and the Venetian shopping area is lovely (I don’t like the air freshener they use though LOL), then the light show down town at night is fun to see too.
Depending on how far you want to drive and what you want to see there is so much to do…….Red Rock Canyon is beautiful and not far (maybe 35 minutes), Lake Mead and the Hoover dam is about an hours drive and the Grand Canyon is about 5 ½ hours drive or I think you can get a flight from Vegas over the Canyon, all well worth seeing if you’re into that type of thing…….I love seeing new places but in my last life I think I was a Nomad. LOL
I love Vegas!
The Shopping is amazing, although really I just walk around and look at everything and maybe try some stuff on that costs more than my car is worth LOL! The mall at Ceaser's palace is pretty amazing.
The downtown light show is worth seeing at least once and totally free.
Make sure you take a watch, there are no windows or clocks in any of the casinos!
I will ask my mom for more recommendations, they go every year for a long weekend.
Drive out to Death Valley. The views of the mountains are awesome,
and the empty space is a nice break from the Strip.
This would be my vote as well for what to see.
I still have yet to see the Grand Canyon so that could be a possibility as well, just a bit of a drive, if you are up for it.
In any regard, it sounds like a fun trip, and adventure!

I think I'm the only one who likes Vegas for the shows. Some are expensive but a whole lot of fun if you pick your interest. Last time was a trip to see some family and we decided to catch Terry Fator at the Mirage. We had a fantastic time.
