For the first time in Dream Catchers' history (www.dreamcatcherswilliamsburg.org), we have a waiting list for students who need/want to join the program. This is such a wonderful thing - with seventeen horses working five days a week we are serving approximately 120 students this session.
Tonight I was told of our newest rider who will be joining us as soon as all the paper work is completed. His mom is a member of our military and was just transferred to the area. Some of you may already be aware of his story...
I am so happy to hear that your program is so successful!!! Hugs to you and all of your team and the incredible horses that make your program what it is.
Do you know if Aiden has a dog yet? I just know that he will end up with the most perfect dog
I was told they are going to wait until Aiden is a little bit older in hopes that he and a dog will bond more successfully. Obviously, having had two dogs taken away has been a bit hard on him.
It was actually a woman from Missouri who knows the benefits of therapeutic riding, who saw the PBS shown on Aiden and decided to see if she could get him hooked up with a program in Colorado. While trying to contact his mother she found out they had been transferred to Virgina. This woman in Missouri, who has never met Aiden, contacted Dream Catchers and begged, begged, begged to get him in our program, and offered to pay his first session. The ONLY reason we could accept Aiden at this time is due to the fact that another child who was scheduled had to drop out of this session. Seems like Aiden was supposed to come to Dream Catchers.
Aiden will find his heart dog... his own Drift. And they will both know it when it happens.

I know he will Kelly. Someone to be with and help him 24/7. In the mean time, we will put him on a gentle horse and let him experience that kind of freedom until he is sent the right dog for the right boy.
I love it when pieces start falling into place. Aiden will find his Drift, probably right about the time he figures s/he won't ever happen. Dream Catchers will be a perfect healing distraction while he learns patience and gains the confidence and maturity he needs.
It’s truly amazing how he ended up in your saddles. I often wonder what drives people to do the things they do but it sure leaves a warm feeling in your soul. Kindness never ceases to amaze me.
I’ll bet there’s some interesting times to come, I hope you keep us posted on his progress.
Wow, is all I can say. Is it common that a match does not occur? I guess in my world of flowers and rainbows(big grin) the thought of a match not happening never occured to me..duh. I didn't realize there was a matching proocess. The dog at times doesn't pick the recipiant?
