Daniel Fernando Webboard User Reg: 05-21-2010 Posts: 106 Loc: Philadelphia, PA - US Offline	I just built a 4' x 6' Dog house for Eva and Xena. usually they sleep and play in my room but I'm tired cleaning up my room 3 times a week because of Xena's hair. So I decided to build them a dog house that's enough for them in backyard. I know it sounds unfair to Eva because of Xena but I'm trying to make it fair for both so they both stay in dog house in backyard. My questions are: - Do I need to install a light inside a dog house? do they need light? (it's pretty dark at night but not too dark ) - Do I need to chain my dog so they will get used to their new house? - What is the lowest room temperature for German Shepherd and Pitbull mix? ~Thank You~

Linda West Webboard User Reg: 07-17-2010 Posts: 374 Loc: Offline	I don't know about flashlight but there have been many times with our guys that we needed the light on in the middle of the night and both of us were up. Flashlight would not have done the job in those cases. Then again, you know your dogs and the issues or lack thereof they have so I guess I would go by what you think you need. There have been times when they puked and we needed to check them to see what else was going on (rash? etc.), giving medicine in the middle of the night, etc,etc. and we needed more than a flashlight. My parents had outside dogs with no light in the kennel but they also did not know what was happening during the night so I guess it depends.

Of course generations of domestication has greatly improved their eye sight so the light is no longer needed. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
