My 12 month old female Working GSD is experiencing allergies of some kind I believe, for the first time ever. We've recently moved to the country and I'm not sure what's causing it.
About a week ago I noticed her nose was a bit dry on the edges, her lips near the back of her mouth are also a bit chapped and on the top of her left eye lid it seems a bit dry as well. Since her food was changed for about a month I figured now that she was back on her regular diet it may go away. However, she's really tender-footed now and on concrete if she's been playing a little while she will leave little spots of blood from her toes and start limping badly when she puts weight on her feet. Since then I have crated her to keep her off her feet til she gets better. I've also been been putting hydrogen peroxide on her wounds (the bottom of the pads) and neosporin.
Anybody have similar occurences and/or suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
Edit: I just ordered the "Tuf-Foot" product which will hopefully help however I'm tending to believe that it is more allergy related than "thin" pads...I'm not positive though.

Edit reason: addt'l info...
Personally I would get her in to the vet. That age developing allergies is the long haul and best to catch now. If it is not allergies I would also want to start work on this before it gets out of hand.
Ray, I would stop using hydrogen peroxide as it can really sting but more because it also puts a halt on the healing too.
Until you can get in to see a vet:
A more user friendly solution would be a saline bath. Just use some sea salt or epsom salts in same warm water for a foot soak.
Then dry the feet, and apply either neosporin or bag balm for those sore feet.
I have used this with much success: http://www.vetericyn.com/ It will help with healing and prevent any infection, bacterial or fungal.
For down the road, I would highly recommend a Derm Vet for diagnosing allergies. Most GP's just don't truly have enough knowledge on such a vast area, and you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run by going to a specialist.
Many of us here have been there, and can tell you from experience, this is the way to go.
Check out the numerous threads here on allergies, you will learn a lot.
Best wishes for healing those paws!
