It has been a long lay off both kaiser and myself. Kaiser had low hemoglobin levels , it was raining heavily and I had a lot of personal work on my plate.
Inbetween , I had been doing only a bit of maintinance training for few minutes a day 3-4 times.
After almost 40 days of lay off today I took kaiser to the Government Veterinary college and there was ample distractions there.
I have registered him for the beginner class obedience competition to be held on Dec -11 - 2010 . He will be 8 months and 6 days on Dec - 11. The minimum age for entry is 8 months !!*Whewww*.
I have also been practicing myself to be less reactive to kaiser's mistakes/noncompliance ( using that term loosely , kaiser is a dog he does not make any mistakes, I do ) , like Barking harsh commands at him, Growling "No" at him etc. But it is still a work in progress. I realize that I have trained myself to train Kaiser a certain way .
Anyway, here is the training session, warts and all. the E-Collar was never used in the training. I dont know how to use it in training , so I use it as an insurance against kaiser chasing other dogs. He has done it only once and has never tried it again in his life. It is just there in case Kaiser decides to take off on me.
Nice Job! I'd say he had many distractions there, he handled it well, I enjoy seeing his progress!
I got distracted when I saw the American Eskimo...In India!
I had one as a rescue, and we have one in our pet therapy group, they don't do so well in the heat.
Tammy Moore> Yes they have all types of dogs in India. Mostly owned by people who own it for status. There are a few st.Bernards in the city I live. I am sure that they dont do well in the heat either. Not to sound supercilious but no one seems to be training their dogs. In the past 7 months or so I have not come across one pet owner who trains their dog. It is either the police/millitary or people who rent their dogs for movies/adverts.
Thanks for your kind words. Leerburg.com and this forum has helped me with a lot of my training. I get a lot valuable advice from you folks. Thats why I keep posting my videos even if it is below standard.
Betty Landercasp> Thank you . His hem ocount was low and my vet put him on some tonic (Dexorange) which has iron and folic acid. He has been taking it for a month now. I gave him a lot of rest and he seems to have improved. Nowadays he is very active , jumping up and down, able to engage and work for more than 45 minutes, not pant , behaving hyper in a good way . And yes Bommi is doing great too. She is having her first season. So I have not been training her and had to keep her in a separate pen. But she is sweet as ever.
Ram, It is obvious you have spent a lot of time training Kaiser - he is really doing well. I couldn't help but notice that amoung all the dogs coming and going, he was the only dog which appeared to have ANY training! (Maybe folks seeing how well you and your boy are doing will be inspired to begin working with their dogs too.)
Ram!!!!! I'm so proud of what you have done with your pup!!!
Wow!!!!
Totally impressive.
I really enjoy watching his progress and thank you for making the videos and posting them.
I just LOVE how he has to line up his feet perfectly when he goes into a down. It's adorable.
Such a nice pup and a great job on the training.
You had an audience there for a while....
Loved the ant scene...and then he went and checked the same spot again. It must have been quite an important ant.
