I have a Question about Dog training method.
So far I know the Learn - Correction - Distraction method which involves food / toy reward, prong collar.
There is also so-called Positive Reinforcement Dog Training where most people call it more humane.
from the web:
"Positive reinforcement dog training works by using praise and positive actions or rewards, rather than punishment or correctional actions, to teach your dog right from wrong. The key with this type of training is to determine what it is that motivates your dog, and use that motivator as a reward upon correct performance. In positive reinforcement dog training you can use treats, toys, physical affection, verbal praise or a combination of any of those, to reward your dog for correct behavior."
My question is:
When the dog don't listen or do the given command and not response too well to 'NO', how to 'fix' it on positive reinforcement method?
Does positive reinforcement training method ever applied on Schutzhund or working protection dog?
Does positive reinforcement training method ever applied on Schutzhund or working protection dog?
It IS possible to train a dog using only positive training, no corrections to high levels of sport work. I know a lady who's got a SchH 3 GSD w/o ever having a e collar or prong on the dog. He's NEVER received a correction on the field (he's a house dog, so she won't say she's never corrected him verbally in the house )
He's also cross-training French Ring.
I think a member on here has a SchH3 dog that was all positive training as well. Don't remember who, or where I saw the thread, as I'm new here.
It's possible. You've got to be a hell of a trainer (IMO) and have immaculate timing on your rewards, along with boatloads of patience!
