Haydn and I will be flying via Continental in December. Haydn will have to be shipped with their QUICKPACK service. I called them to ask about the health certificate and they specifically told me "there are no vaccination requirements. The only information we need is that the dog is in good health to fly and there are no pre-existing conditions".
Really??? No vaccination requirements??? Does anybody have experience shipping dogs via QUICKPACK?
I don't have any experience with QuickPack, but I flew to San Francisco with my GSD this spring via United Airline.
My dog is only vaccinated for Rabies, I asked my vet about vaccinations and flying, he said that as long as the airline didn't require it, he had no problem giving my dog a health certificate to fly.
I think you just have to comply with the vaccination laws of your destination.
How long is your trip? Make sure that you have a valid health certificate for the flight back, I forgot the exact time period, but I think the certificate was only good for a couple of weeks.
Minneapolis to Alburquerque on Delta: TSA took him out of the crate and patted him down, and looked at his rabies tag. They also looked in the crate, under his blanket. The TSA work looked like SOP.
THis happened both ways. A plastic dish on the crate so they could water the dog remotely was a requirement. Delta required a statement that the dog was in good health from a veterinarian, no shots other than rabies were required.
On Delta, they have a "rip off" thing stuck to the crate which they give you when the dog has been loaded.
I secured his crate door with the heaviest zip-ties you can buy (post TSA).
My guy was not freaked out, which surprised me. He was no more freaked out coming back than going.
Our only problem was his reluctance to pee near the airport.
(Last Christmas we checked in at Tampa, Pink was in cabin then, they checked tags-no certificates, but they wanted to see the tag-also Delta, though)

Edit reason: Tag info
The one time I flew Kaia back to Minneapolis with me she was 6 months old, so she was current on everything, but the health check needed to be performed for both coming and going, that was not a problem.
The one thing I was upset about was when we arrived in Mpls, Kaia had already been in her crate for several hours, due to a delay.
I wanted to take her out and let her relieve herself, but there was no where to take her! The website made it sound like they had a place, but that wasn't the case.
She had to hold it for a long time before I could get her out of the crate.
Just something to think about for your pup.
