Okay, it's COLD! We usually go for a 3 mile walk but me and both kids are really sick and my husband is working overtime. Going outside for longer than a potty break just isn't going to happen this week. Vader is doing good, but I need some ideas for indoor stimulation and play. I've been doing lots of obedience work, hiding treats and making him find them, things like that. Anything else we can do inside to help prevent boredom and exercise his brain?
I always teach tricks in the winter...keeps their minds busy in small spaces. This year, I cleared a 25 by 12 area in my basement and bought some cheap carpet...viola...dog training area! I have brought in my tunnel and weaves, plus just working on basics with my pup.

Me too, and also heel work in a hallway, all kinds of basic ob in any regular space (kitchen?), "find it" .... and I am going to order a couple of the puzzle toys from LB as soon as I get my expected holiday LB GCs.
Cicero loves his tug a jug. Word of caution though it got a bit dangerous at times as he loved to swing it around, I got quite a few bruises from it and worried about some of my furniture from time to time.
Koenig loves his tug a jug too! Sara isn't food motivated enough to figure it out... LOL.
Juliana, I'm glad koenig does not swing it- that would be scary!
Vigo just got lucky...I ordered a tug a jug for my Aunt's new puppy for Christmas and it came today, but it is way too big for the pup. So Vigo is happily trying to get kibble out of it! (Only he keeps going back to the spot some kibble first fell out, like "what the heck?").
Sook. Falcon loves playing sook in the house and it definitely wears him out mentally and physically when I hide something upstairs while he is on a down = downstairs. (I'm not so crazy about running up and down, but it is GREAT for him!) (For some unknown reason, he caught onto "sook" faster than any other command trained - it didn't even have to be trained - it just "clicked" with him. They should all be sooo easy.)
