I may have sent this in before but I can't find it.
My boy has been on raw food diet for about 1 month. I follow Ed's diet for a 90 lb dog. His allergies are much better. He's more content.
He gets max amount of salmon oil, Yucca, clear allergy from Leerburg, pumpkin, vit c, vit e, 1/2 cup water in food everyday.
His poop is good. Very firm. His only real problem now is is rear end (anus) is sore a lot. When this happened last spring the vet had me put diaper rash oidment on him. That does help. Now I am also trying aloe, and vit e. But I'm wondering what is causing this problem. He had his glands express last week. And 3 weeks before that. Any ideas?
Well, I haven't had a chance to buy the powder yet so I give him a 1000 mg pill. Too much maybe. I was thinking that yesterday and did not give him any today.
Sometimes it is very hard and dry so I started adding water to the food I give him, but he does not seem to be straining. It comes right out.
Do you think it's ok to give him the vit c in powder form and if so, how much.

Every dog's different--but for mine, the ratio I work with is about half "Raw Meaty Bones" and about half "Muscle Meat"
So to make a 1-lb. meal, I would make it 1/2 lb. of chicken parts, 1/2 pound some other muscle meat. Plus organ meat, supplements, veggies if you feed them, etc. A dog cannot live by chicken alone.
The poop will tell. Dry poop = too much bone in the diet.
Thanks for great tips.
His anus area is much better. Do you think I can now add the vit c powder or should I just leave it out? He does get veggie everyday and blueberries once in a while.
