I'm approaching retirement age and my van has 100K miles on it, I want to buy a vehicle that would last at least twenty years with normal driving habits, ie 20miles a day average plus the 2000 mile summer vacation stuff. What production vehicle would you guys recommend? it can't be an econobox or 'lectric
I love my Honda Pilot. Big enough to get an XL crate wedged in the back, seats fold down to give lots of room in the rear; it will sit 5 comfortably. Knock on wood - the only issues I've had are the several times damn mice have gotten up in the engine and built nests.... grrrrrrr.
I have a 1998 ford explorer that is still going strong with 180,000 miles on it. The car I had before this one was also an explorer 1990 I believe and is still being driven although with a new transmission.
I don't know if the new ones are as good but we have been very pleased with them.
I am actually considering a 4 door hatchback ford fiesta, they are cute and sporty and get 30 miles a gallon.
Subaru Forester or Outback is the hands down nomination from me. My 99 Subaru has almost 200K miles on it and aside from replacing one head gasket has only had the oil, tires, filters etc changed on it.
We were looking at one of those too....It won't seat the whole family, but if we keep the expedition that won't be a problem.
I can't drive the expedition because I have to lift my legs off the floor to reach the pedals.
How is the drivers seat configured on the outback?
meaning are they set low like car seats?
or higher like truck seats?
We would be able to have the kids, me and then let Eddie have the back.
